character information
● name: General Leia Organa
● canon: Star Wars
● canon point: The end of TFA
● age: 50ish?
● (canon) background: Wikilink
● (original) world:
● abilities: The Force and Diplomacy.
● strengths: StrengthOne of Leia’s biggest strengths is actually her own personal strength. It sounds a bit trite to say it in that fashion, but when it comes down to it that’s what it is. Leia is the only Skywalker (other than Shimi) who doesn’t turn to the dark side or run away from her problems. She loses her adopted family, her son, her husband and her entire planet but she doesn’t turn to the darkside in the way that the others do.
Altruistic personality. As a result of her upbringing, Leia can often put other people ahead of herself, and it’s hard to run off to an island when you quite literally have the entire galaxy resting on your thin shoulders. More than that, Leia is incredibly intelligent and quick-witted; indeed there are several times in the franchise where the fate of the universe is literally resting on her and she manages to save it, because after all “someone needs to save our skins.” Going along with that quick-wittedness, is also the fact that Leia Organa is brave as hell.
Bravery. She started working for the Senate and speaking out against the Empire at 14, and was working with the resistance at sixteen. At nineteen, Leia was tortured, and didn’t give up anything to the bott, and only gave up an abandoned rebel base when Alderaan was going to be destroyed. It’s giving away the smallest piece of information at great personal cost that makes Leia a great leader. From her time in the original Senate, to the rebellion, to the New Senate to the Resistance, Leia Organa is a general through and through. Perhaps in the most important ways, Leia is a huge force of will, and can seriously be summed up as “nevertheless she persisted.”
● weaknesses: too altruistic for her own goodLeia can be entirely too altruistic for her own good. She is constantly putting the galaxy above herself and her personal safety, and later her relationship and her time with her husband and son.
Impatience. She can be incredibly impatient and short tempered at times, though that has been a bit mollified by time and age. (Not much though) More stubborn than not stubborn (anywhere along her timeline) Leia can often appear to have a briskness that she doesn’t intend; she just tends to come from a place where she doesn’t have a lot of time.
Anger. Despite what I said in her strengths about not being a Skywalker manbaby, Leia still can be an incredibly angry person, and she carries around a large amount of hate. According to the new canon books and comics, it’s hate for Vader for what he did to her and mostly to Alderaan, that sustains her during the war. More than that, it’s in hate that Leia finds the strength to kill Jabba the Hutt for taking her captive and holding her like he did, as well as for harming all of the people that he did, including Han and Luke, the people whom she loves most. Further, Leia also has a fair amount of survivor’s guilt both because of what happened directly to Alderaan (and to her adopted family) and what happened within the war. Yes, she’s a general and it’s her job to decide who lives and who dies, but it’s a decision that she weighs each time she does it, and she feels each death when it’s called out in that control room.

HISTORY: Go go gadget wiki.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S STRENGTHS?: One of Leia’s biggest strengths is actually her own personal strength. The reason that she doesn’t is probably due to another of Leia’s great strengths: her altruistic personality.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHARACTER'S WEAKNESSES?: Leia can be entirely too altruistic for her own good. She is constantly putting the galaxy above herself and her personal safety, and later her relationship and her time with her husband and son
WHAT EVENTS OR CIRCUMSTANCES IN YOUR CHARACTER'S PAST HAVE IMPACTED THEM THE MOST?: 1. The first and perhaps the biggest event that has impacted Leia the most is her dissatisfaction with the Empire and how they treated the people and her decision to join the Rebellion from a young age. Everything that follows for the rest of her life is based upon this decision, which wasn’t one that Leia took on lightly. She wanted to make the galaxy a better place, and for a time she achieved it.
2.The destruction of Alderaan goes along with the first circumstance, but it deserves to have it’s own place here. The destruction of Alderaan is something that Leia never lets go of, and it’s something that never lets go of Leia. Alderaan’s destruction fuels Leia’s hate which fuels her drive to end the Empire, which fuels her drive for justice. Later, when the First Order starts to raise from the ashes of the Empire, it will be Alderaan that Leia will remember when she puts on her trousers to start fighting it.
3.The meeting of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca. There is literally no way that Leia would have survived her life without the three of them. They not only physically saved her from being executed in the Death Star, but they also came along at a time when she needed people the most that someone could need another person. Without them, Leia’s heart would have died, and without Leia to bring the rest of them together, the Rebellion would have died.
4. The sending of Ben Solo to train with Luke and the subsequent loss of all of the touchstones in her life (Ben, Luke, Han and Chewie). While Leia thought that she was doing this for the right reasoning (to help Ben with the dark inside of him) this is something that basically causes the end of her marriage and sets along the incoming tragedy of Ben’s slaughter at the new Jedi temple and everything that comes after.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOUR CHARACTER?: At this point in time, Leia is motivated by two things: one to get back home and two to get her son back. There is a third of course, in stopping the First Order and Snoke, but Leia believes that if she can get Ben back and Snoke out of his mind then they’d be able to stop the First Order easily.
WHAT IMPRESSION DO OTHERS TEND TO HAVE OF YOUR CHARACTER?: In canon, people tend to think that Leia Organa is a hero, but she really perceives herself as anything but. In Wayward Pines, Leia will give the impression of a brusque old broad who is also a kind woman who actually cares about people and gets shit done. Occasionally, she can seem a little like she maybe has been reading your thoughts or emotions, and has a kind word of praise or cheer or even a kick in the ass for the person who needs it. She is capable, and dependable and when things get back, Leia Organa shows up.
IN WHAT WAYS DOES THAT IMPRESSION DIFFER FROM WHO YOUR CHARACTER REALLY IS?: Leia is basically what she appears to be only with a more hidden heartbreak than she’d ever let on.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER HANDLE CRISIS OR ADVERSITY?: Leia goes from nothing to “let’s get shit done” in 12 parsecs. She is a take charge person who will do everything that she can to stop the crisis or at the very least to help people through it.
WHICH 5 THINGS WILL YOUR CHARACTER REMEMBER UPON ARRIVAL, AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THEM?: 1. Leia is from space.
2. Leia is married to Han Solo but is but estranged from him as well as Ben Solo and Luke Skywalker
3. Leia knows she’s the leader of the Resistance.
4. That her planet (Alderaan) has been destroyed and she watched it happened and couldn’t do anything about it.
5. She knows she trusts Poe Dameron.
I chose all of these things because I feel like they are core parts of her character and each one illustrates something that I wish to play with in the Pines. Leia needing to adjust to a whole different way of living strikes me as more than a little bit hilarious to play with, counterbalancing the seriousness of the rest of the memories. The memories are all tied together in order to give her a picture of who she is and to give me a chance to play with the survivor's guilt aspect without needing to take on the whole galaxy of it right away.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?: Leia Organa is a fucking badass.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, & PHYSICAL WEAKNESSES: Leia is force sensitive. While she doesn’t do the flashy telekinetic bits of it (so far, hopefully in Episode 9) she definitely uses the sensing/empathic side of the force. She feels Luke and her family most keenly (like when she senses Han’s death in TFA) but she has a more generalized sense of the force that I think makes her empathic and a good leader. (I also think that she blocked a large use of her force use because fuck Vader.)
Leia is trained in hand to hand and blaster combat. She was trained for self defense when she was a wee princess (and was a tomboy in that) and it's something that she's always kept up. She may be tiny and old, but she's still scrappy and she is someone who always carries a hidden blaster in her back pocket.
Leia also a highly trained diplomat, a skilled negotiator and as of Bloodline, a keen investigator as well.
INVENTORY: The clothing that Leia’s wearing at the end of the scene with Han, including the two stoned ring on her finger and a blaster, because Leia never goes anywhere without a blaster.
